MRLP Employees Spark Dreams of Homeownership in Local Communities

Jul 10, 2024

MRLP is proud to share the success of our recent collaboration with the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) in the Princess Mackie Book Challenge!  This program aims to increase homeownership opportunities within minority communities by equipping individuals with valuable financial knowledge.  But what made this initiative truly special was the incredible involvement of our very own MRLP employees.

The Princess Mackie Book Challenge centers around distributing the children’s book, “Princess Mackie Buys a House.”  This delightful story teaches financial literacy through the engaging journey of Princess Mackie.  It introduces essential concepts like saving, budgeting, and goal setting, all while planting the seeds of homeownership dreams in young minds.

At MRLP, we believe our employees are the cornerstone of our commitment to community involvement. That’s why we were thrilled to actively engage our team in the Princess Mackie Book Challenge.  Employees were invited to participate by requesting copies of the book to distribute to local organizations within their communities.  The program resonated deeply with our employees, who embraced the opportunity to make a positive impact.  MRLP donated a total of 200 copies of “Princess Mackie Buys a House,” and thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our team, these books are now in the hands of organizations around the country that serve individuals who can benefit most from the financial literacy message embedded within the story.

Several organizations that benefited from this collaboration include: Girls Inc. of Greater Houston, Seminole County Public Library, Transfiguration Baptist Church, Dwell/Covenant Ministries Libraries, Bethel House of Truth, Ana Grace Arts Academy and Jerabek Elementary.

MRLP’s commitment to social responsibility extends far beyond financial contributions.  We are proud of our team’s commitment to giving back and creating a lasting impact in our communities.  By empowering our employees to be active participants in this program, we’ve fostered a deeper connection between our team and the communities we serve.  Together, we are working to build a future where financial literacy is accessible and the dream of homeownership is a reality for all.
